I haven’t blogged in a while and over the past few days I’ve struggled to find the words to describe how I feel about what I sat in horror and watched on Television on Wednesday, 1/6/21. For starters, 2020 was the type of year no one expected. If you’re in business, your faith and finances were probably tested beyond measure. I had so much hope for 2020 but had to cancel all plans because of covid-19 and literally reset myself. In that reset, it made me realize what I wanted more than anything in life. We all make room for what we want, no matter what’s going on in our lives. I honestly believe that God allowed 2020 to show us what was really important. Hopefully, we all got the hint, heeded the call and did the needful. As for the elections, I don’t think I prayed harder for anything in my life. I prayed because the soul of our nation depended on it. Yes, we’re deeply divided as a nation but I haven’t seen this level of emboldened attacks in my lifetime. We all know racists and anarchists exist some where in the background but the kind of insurrection I watched on Television turned my stomach. I was torn apart by what I saw. Yelling that they’re trying to take their country back as if its not also the country of those who voted against the man that incited their behavior. I was out of the country for Christmas and when I came back home and proudly presented my blue American passport, I was told “Welcome Home”. America is my home country too. It belongs to all of us who are American citizens. None of us have more or less of a right to it. It is equally all of ours. The beauty of America has been the right to agree to disagree while living freely in our homeland. Trump threatened that freedom. America is a beacon of hope for all who long for freedom and a life with better opportunities beyond what they currently have. The reign of Trump tainted that. I don’t hate him. I do have a problem with those who support him especially those that call themselves evangelicals. How can God choose someone as divisive as him? The only way I can accept that is if he was chosen to show us what is really wrong with our nation and spur us to want to fix it. The United States of America is definitely better than what the worst of us Displayed on Wednesday, 1/6/2021, but how do we bridge that great divide. I think the first step will be 1/20/21. We truly have to come together as a nation. I honestly pray for the people that participated in the insurrection on 1/6. I pray that God will truly open their eyes to the beauty of America so they change. We are a nation of immigrants. No matter who you are, unless you are 100% American Indian, you or your people came from somewhere in the world. America represents the whole world and that’s what Heaven will look like. People from every nation, tribe, different colors, different tongues, living together in harmony despite our differences. What an awesome mental picture. What a privilege. Bearing this in mind, no group should ever be able to tell another group that they don’t belong in America or that the country isn’t theirs. There’s so much more I could say but I think my point is clear. You know, I don’t know what 2021 has in store. I do know what I would love for God to do for us, individually and collectively as a people. I’m definitely holding on to the horns of the altar believing that He who promised is faithful. I’ve also learned to be content in any situation I find myself in. I earnestly pray that 2021 will be a year filled with peace, love and answered prayers for us all. It can only get better from here. Please feel free to share your thoughts with me. God bless you all!
