Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Luke 24

New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Has Risen

24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words.

I’m grateful that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I’m more grateful that He’s no longer hanging there but rather sits at the right hand of the Father making daily intercession for me and anyone who dares to believe in Him. Because of the finished work of Christ, we can have a relationship with Father God. He bridged the gap. Isn’t that exciting? So I ask you the same question the angels asked the women who came to the tomb looking for Jesus, why are you looking for the living among the dead? I know that’s a loaded question but I believe it’s significant.

For starters, many are looking for a relationship with God through dead religion. They wind up going in circles, thinking they’re fulfilled all the while still empty. Stop looking for a way to God through dead religion. Jesus is the only way to God.

In our personal lives, we constantly look to dead things to satisfy us; things that pertain to our flesh, money, fame, the next car, the next house, a significant other but what we truly long for is a relationship with God. He is what we really need and want. He alone can satisfy the emptiness in our hearts and lives.

Have you ever noticed that the novelty of things wear off rather quickly and once they do, we feel the need to rush to get that next thing so we don’t feel the emptiness? When we have true relationship with God through Christ, those things have less meaning and our life’s purpose comes into play. Our lives and hearts become more fulfilled and we seek those things less and God adds to us everything and more than we could ever desire.

I urge you today to stop seeking life amongst dead things. Seek Christ, Seek relationship with God and see the difference it makes in your life.

Matthew 6:33

Amplified Bible (AMP)

33 But seek ([a]aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness ([b]His way of doing and being right), and then all these things will be given to you.

Happy Resurrection Sunday again and remember that Jesus’ finished work on the cross is what we’re celebrating today.
