Tribute to Mommy

11 years ago

On July 21, 2008 @ 12:01 am, my mom, Mrs. Maria A. Obi transitioned from this world to Heaven. Today marks Five years that she’s been gone from us. In spiritual terms, the number five is the number of grace & as hard as it still is to deal with God has given us grace to handle her absence. By now, I would be balled up in my bed crying but today, I remember her lovingly. Jesus, The memories of all the good times and what she taught me while on this earth is what I draw on for strength!

For those that still have their moms, cherish them daily. Rebuild that relationship if you have to. Life on earth is fleeting and some don’t realize the worth of what they have until it’s too late. Make sure you have no regrets when all is said and done. For those like me that no longer have their moms take heart, God will give us the grace to continue without them. We only need to lean on Him and draw daily from good memories and all they deposited in us for strength.

Mommy, no words can ever express how much you’re missed. Your daily prayers and always speaking the word of God over us, your sweet laughter, the way you called me Zi, NwaNNa or the way you always seemed to know what was going on with me without me saying a word. I still wonder why God took you from us when we need you. My only consolation is that you’re with the Lord today and resting from all earthly burden. You lived Proverbs 31: 10-31 to the fullest and today as it says in vs 28-31, I honor you.

Proverbs 31

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Continue to rest in peace in the bosom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ until we meet again in Heaven.
